MATCH REPORT: KANO PILLARS 4–1 DOMA UNITED

Our unbeaten start to the 2026/2027 Euromatch-Nigeria Professional Football League campaign came to an end following a 4–1 defeat away to Kano Pillars. The hosts started brightly, creating two clear-cut chances inside the opening three minutes, both of which were dealt with. We also went close early on when Gamagira's free-kick rattled the crossbar, and the opening ten minutes saw both sides settle into the contest with the score goalless. Kano Pillars broke the deadlock in the 19th minute through Abdullahi Musa, converting from a free kick after Shola Collins had been booked moments earlier for the game's first caution. The hosts were then awarded a penalty in the 28th minute following a coming together between Ahmed Musa and Bitrus Philimon. Still, Rabiu Ali blazed the resulting spot kick over the bar. Kano Pillars doubled their lead in the 33rd minute when Rabiu Ali's close-range effort took a deflection and rolled beyond Pius Ibrahim, sending the hosts into half-time with a 2–0 advantage. Coach Ayeni made two changes at the interval, bringing on Omah Joseph and Simon Daniel for Shola Collins and Salomon Chigoziem. The changes had an immediate impact, as Doma United pulled a goal back in the 53rd minute when Rilwan Sadiq rose highest at the far post to head home Gamagira's corner kick, reducing the deficit to 2–1. Nnamdi Agu was booked in the 62nd minute, before Doma United made a further change in the 63rd minute, with Yusuf Fantami replacing Haruna Abubakar. Our boys continued to push for an equaliser, and Rilwan Sadiq forced a good save from the Kano Pillars goalkeeper with a left-footed effort in the 70th minute. Nnamdi Agu was replaced by Edwin Ayiba in the 74th minute, but Kano Pillars restored their two goal cushion in the 77th minute through Ahmed Musa, making it 3–1. Doma United made a final change in the 82nd minute, with Joshua Abah coming on for Adegbite Michael, while Haruna Abutu was cautioned in the 87th minute. Three additional minutes were added at the end of the match, and Kano Pillars capitalised further, scoring a fourth goal in the 92nd minute to complete the scoring. The match ended 4–1 in favour of Kano Pillars, handing the Savannah Tigers their first defeat of the season while Sadiq Rilwan continues his scoring streak.
